Shaghayegh Smousavi advises domestic and international clients on all areas of energy law. She has a special focus on transactions, with emphasis on the regulated energy industry. In particular, Shaghayegh has vast experience in structuring co-operations, taking into account regulatory and financial requirements. She also advises numerous energy utilities and financial investors with regard to EU regulation and lobbying, inter alia, with regard to ownership un-bundling issues and exemptions from the regulatory regime.
Shaghayegh started her legal career with a big 4 accountancy firm in Frankfurt and Paris and then worked for a tax consultancy in Niamey in Niger as well as for the European Commission in Brussels. She subsequently joined a big Anglo-Saxon firm where she worked as a counsel in her last position. Shaghayegh speaks German, French, English, Italian and Persian.
