Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has hired competition lawyer Ninette Dodoo as counsel and deputy head of the firm’s China antitrust practice.
She joins from Clifford Chance where she spent 14 years and headed the firm’s China competition group. Prior to that, she worked for Pappalardo e Associati in Brussels.
Michael Han, head of Freshfields’ China antitrust group, said: “We have often been across the table from Ninette and know first-hand the depth of her experience in sophisticated antitrust matters.”
Dodoo specialises in competition, EU & trade, M&A and corporate matters within the consumer goods & retail, energy, healthcare, life sciences and TMT sectors.
She has experience handling high-profile Chinese antitrust matters and regularly advises clients in ongoing antitrust investigations by the National Development & Reform Commission.
John Davies, global co-head of Freshfields’ competition practice, says the addition of Dodoo plays an “important part of the jigsaw” in building Freshfields’ Beijing competition practice.
“There are only a small number of internationally experienced antitrust lawyers operating in the China market who have genuine local experience and insight. Ninette is one of those people. We think that Ninette working alongside Michael Han and Jenny Connolly, who share those qualities, represents a formidable platform in a market where antitrust issues are taking centre stage for many clients.”
Thomas Vinje, co-chair of Clifford Chance’s global competition practice, states that he remains “good friends” with his ex-colleague: “We very deeply appreciate all her hard work over the years. From a personal view, I will certainly miss her.”
Dodoo is listed in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists.
