Mariana Herrero is a Partner of Galicia Abogados, S.C. since 2012, where she heads the Environmental Practice of the Firm since 2006. Her practice is focused on environmental law advising both sponsors and lenders on the environmental aspects of the financing, structuring and development of infrastructure projects, mainly in the water, roads and energy industries (conventional and renewable). In leading the Firm’s environmental practice, Ms. Herrero has also vast experience in dealing with the environmental aspects of M&A projects related to different business and industries, including the acquisition of renewable energy projects (mainly wind, solar and min-hydro). She also participates in the development and implementation of corporate environmental and permitting strategies for the development of infrastructure, industrial and tourist projects.
Ms. Herrero studied the Faculty of Law of Universidad Panamericana in México City (2000). She obtained postgraduate degree on Administrative Law at the same university and received an MSc in Environmental Sustainability from the Centre for the Study of Environmental Change and Sustainability, University of Edinburgh, UK, in 2005.
She is currently a member of the Environmental Task Force of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
