Birgitta Van Itterbeek (°1965, Leuven) is senior partner at Monard Law and advises and litigates in the following areas:
• Transport law, more in particular Aviation law, with a special focus on aircraft finance and leasing, regulatory an insurance matters
• Financial law including secured and unsecured financing, project, asset and structured finance, leasing and acquisition finance
• Insurance law, with a special focus on directors’ liability and errors and omissions insurance, reinsurance and retrocessions and regulatory issues
She regularly advises airlines, charter companies and lessors. She has also counselled Belgian and foreign companies, venture capital funds and banks on matters of acquisition finance and secured and unsecured lending and leasing. Birgitta regularly assists reinsurance and insurance companies.
Birgitta received her law degree from KU Leuven (1988) and holds an LL.M (1989) from the University of Virginia School of Law as a Fulbright Scholar. Birgitta joined the firm on 1 April 2012. Prior to joining the firm she has been partner at Dugardyn & Partners office as of 1 September 2006. Before that she was partner at NautaDutilh in Brussels and head of asset finance at Loyens in Brussels. Birgitta also was senior in-house counsel at Sabena, responsible for overseeing the fleet and financing of the Sabena group.
Birgitta publishes regularly on selected topics in the field of aviation and financial law and is frequently invited to speak at seminars.
She is selected by Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers and of Business lawyers as a world leading Aviation Lawyer, by Legal 500 as a leading individual and tier one lawyer. She is a member of Women on Board.
She is a member of the Brussels bar.
