Sylvie Dubois is a partner in the employment team at ALTIUS, an independent, full-service law firm with offices in Brussels, Antwerp and Luxembourg. She heads a team of 10 specialist employment lawyers.

Sylvie's practice covers all aspects of employment law, including national, international and multijurisdictional issues. She has a proven track record in advising leading global corporations on day-to-day issues of individual and collective labour law (eg, defining the correct status and required type of contract for international employment in Belgium; discrimination, moral and sexual harassment issues; implementation of employee handbooks, codes of conduct and whistle-blowing policies; negotiations following the termination of employment contracts of senior executives; employment disputes before the employment courts and the Court of Appeal; outsourcing arrangements and drafting collective labour agreements at company level).

She has extensive experience in advising corporate clients on issues relating to the transfer of business and the sale or purchase of businesses or parts of businesses. She regularly advises on complex reorganisations and international restructuring operations. This includes advising on the procedure for collective dismissals or closures of companies or divisions, as well as managing the employment-law issues related to their transactions, for example the information and consultation duties and the post- transaction harmonisation of employee benefits.

Sylvie is a member of the International Bar Association Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee (IBA) and the European Employment Lawyers Association. She speaks occasionally at conferences on selected topics of employment law.

She obtained a Licence in Economics (Ghent University, 1985) and a Licence in Law (Ghent University, 1989) and has been a member of the Brussels bar since 1989.

She is fluent in Dutch, French and English.

Sylvie Dubois is a recommended lawyer in Legal 500, Chambers Europe and Who’s Who Legal.

Sources highlight her ‘excellent solutions and responsiveness, regardless of time differences’. – Chambers Europe 2012
